Let Your Car's Fuel Come from Your Roof
The real comfort of an electric car is getting into a full one every morning. For that it is enough for the car to charge quietly overnight; for most homes a 7.4 kW or 11 kW AC unit does the job with room to spare. Fast charging is what you need on the road, not at home.
Which Unit Suits You?
| Use | Type | Typical power | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home / villa | AC wall-mounted | 7.4 – 11 kW | Charging overnight or in sunny hours |
| Residential car park | AC multi-unit | 11 – 22 kW | Per-user metering and reporting |
| Business / store | DC fast charging | 30 kW and above | Shortens customer waiting time |
| Fleet / institution | AC + load sharing | Variable | Vehicles charge in turn and in balance |
How Does Charging from Solar Work?
Smart charging units can read the home's live production and consumption. When the surplus from the roof passes a set threshold, charging starts automatically; when production drops, the current is reduced or charging is paused. That way most of the energy going into the car comes from the roof rather than the grid.
As important as the charger: the board
The charging unit itself is the visible part of the job. Residual current protection, cable cross-section, earthing and load sharing are what determine safety. It is these details, not the brand of the unit, that make an installation sound.
What Do We Check During Installation?
- The capacity of the existing supply and of the distribution board
- Choice of residual current (Type A EV / Type B) and overcurrent protection
- Cable distance and cross-section calculation
- Load sharing: preventing clashes with the home's other loads
- Charging that follows production priority, if it will run with a solar system
- IP protection rating and cable management for outdoor installations
HIGHLIGHTS
Why with Smart Enerji?
We talk through what you gain before the installation and what happens after it.
Charging from the Sun
We build setups that route the energy produced during the day straight to the car.
The Right Protection
The board and the earthing are as much a part of safety as the charging unit itself.
Metering and Reporting
Businesses can obtain per-user consumption reports.
Turnkey
From survey to cabling, from assembly to commissioning, all from one team.
Load Sharing
Several vehicles charge in turn and in balance without straining the supply.
Scheduled Charging
A charging programme that starts automatically during cheap tariff hours.
