Home Solar Energy Systems
Rising energy costs and a growing concern for the environment are pushing homeowners towards renewable sources. Home solar energy systems are one of the most effective ways to protect nature and to make serious energy savings over the long term.

Getting to Know Solar Energy
Home solar energy systems let you generate your own electricity: the panels on your roof turn sunlight into electrical energy. With such a system you can cut your energy bills and reduce your dependence on the grid to a minimum.
The system is not complicated: the panels produce direct current, the inverter turns it into the alternating current your home uses, the energy you generate is consumed in the house first, and the surplus goes to the grid through a bi-directional meter. When a cloud passes or night falls, the house simply carries on drawing from the grid, with nothing for you to do.
Panel
The panels on the roof turn sunlight into direct current (DC).
Inverter
It converts direct current into the alternating current (AC) the house uses.
Home
The energy produced first covers whatever the house is using at that moment.
Meter / grid
Surplus energy goes to the grid through a bi-directional meter, and any shortfall is drawn back.
What Does a Panel Produce in Our Region?
On Turkey's solar map, Mardin and its surroundings sit in the top group. Within the same year, the same panel produces noticeably more here than in the Black Sea region. The distribution below shows how a typical year goes for 1 kWp of installed capacity: production peaks in summer and falls in winter, but no month drops to zero.
July produces about three times as much as December. That is why a system is sized against your total annual consumption rather than a single month. The values are estimates based on regional averages; roof orientation, tilt and shading change the result.

What Determines the Size of Your System?
The right system is the one that covers your bill. An oversized installation means needless cost, an undersized one means disappointment. During the survey we look at five things:
- Your annual consumption: the last 12 months of bills are the most reliable data.
- Roof orientation and tilt: south-facing roofs with a 20–30° tilt are the most efficient; an east-west layout works too, it just needs a few more panels.
- Shading: a chimney, a water tank, a neighbouring building or a tree all cut production. Where needed we use panel optimisers or micro-inverters.
- Roof area: roughly 5 m² of clear, sound surface is needed per kWp.
- Your contracted capacity: a grid-connected system cannot exceed the capacity in your contract.
Is my roof suitable, and how do I find out?
The quickest route: pick up your latest bill and call us. In most cases we can do a preliminary assessment over the phone from a satellite image of the roof and the bill; only after that does a survey appointment become necessary.
What Do We Use in the Installation?
| Component | What it does | Expected life |
|---|---|---|
| Solar panel | Turns light into direct current | 25 years and more (with the manufacturer's performance warranty) |
| Inverter | Turns direct current into the alternating current the house uses | 10–15 years |
| Mounting structure | Fixes the panels to the roof so they hold under wind load | As long as the system |
| DC/AC board | Provides overcurrent, residual current and lightning protection | As long as the system |
| Bi-directional meter | Measures the energy you draw and the energy you export separately | Fitted by the distribution company |
| Monitoring module | Brings production to your phone | Together with the inverter |
Does It Need Maintenance?
Panels have no moving parts, so there is no mechanism to break down in the usual sense. Dust, on the other hand, is a real issue in our region: a cleaning once or twice a year makes a noticeable difference to production. We also recommend checking the connection points and the distribution board once a year. We can do this work for you, or show you how it is done.
